Yankees Thrill Fans with 8-7 Win
The Staten Island Yankees took Penn Yan pitcher Jesse Tannehill's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark at St. George. The final score had Staten Island getting past the Mustangs, 8-7. Tannehill went 0 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 0. Staten Island reliever Junichi Tazawa picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Don McMahon was saddled with the loss. The last-place Mustangs have dropped 6 straight games.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 7-7, left fielder Andy Kosco won it for Staten Island. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Kosco hit a 2-2 changeup from Chuck Stobbs for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 8-7 win.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Kosco told the Staten Island Observer.
