Mineola Black Spiders pitcher Scott Scudder whisked his team past the D.C. Potomacs, 3-0. The Black Spiders go to 32-52 with the win.

Gary Roenicke had a big solo home run for the Black Spiders in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Mineola leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a changeup from Steve Renko and swatted a home run to right. It was his 53rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Spiders ahead, 2-0.

Scudder pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
