Barrett hits 2 home runs as Blackbirds Squeeze Past Philadelphia
Recreation Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Erie Blackbirds and Philadelphia Pythians.

A 4-RBI performance from Michael Barrett helped the Erie Blackbirds beat the Philadelphia Pythians, 7-6. Doyle Lade, the winner, goes to 5-4. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Joe Thatcher earned his 13th save in 13 chances.

Barrett provided the big break for the Blackbirds in the top of the fifth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run, helping Erie to get the win.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Barrett told the Erie Times. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."

The Blackbirds bumped their record to 48-41 with this latest triumph.
