Black Spiders Drop Colored Gophers, 2-1, with Late Score
|
Mineola overcame a superior effort from Bobby Shantz to beat St. Paul, 2-1. The St. Paul pitcher threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Rex Brothers recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 4 for 12. The Black Spiders go to 34-55 with the win.
Mineola used a clutch hit from Ed Kirkpatrick to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Spiders ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like what I saw today," said Mineola manager Min-hyuk Im, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
