Pythians Win Nail-Biter
|
The Philadelphia Pythians took Staten Island pitcher Shane Rawley's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Recreation Park. The final score had Philadelphia getting past the Yankees, 3-2. Rawley went 9 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 10. Philadelphia now has a record of 48-47 with the win.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the tenth, with Philadelphia trailing 2-1, George Watkins jumped on a 0-1 fastball from Joel Zumaya for a 2-run home run, sending the Pythians to a walk-off win.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Watkins said.
