The New York Black Yankees picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, downing the Miami Cuban Giants, 5-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Pascual Pérez, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Pérez, now 2-2. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7. New York now has a record of 63-50 with the win.

Mickey Mantle had a big 3-run home run for the Black Yankees in the bottom of the fifth inning. With New York leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Adonis Terry and punished it. The result was his 40th home run of the season, which put the Black Yankees on top, 5-1.

Pérez called the win "a collective effort."
