Jose Goes Off, But Mustangs Win
Spirited fans greeted the Kokomo Jackrabbits for their clash with the Penn Yan Mustangs.

The Penn Yan Mustangs overcame a good performance by Kokomo left fielder Felix Jose to knock off Kokomo, 9-5, at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. Jose slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Justin Miller, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 11. His record now stands at 5-9.

The Mustangs got an important contribution from first baseman Jack Bentley, who in the top of the sixth knocked a 2-2 fastball into center for a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Mustangs ahead, 7-3.

"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Bentley, cracking a smile.

Penn Yan is now 46-58, Kokomo 56-48.
