Sea Lions Best Angels in Pitching Duel
|
In a tension-filled contest between the San Francisco Sea Lions and the Los Angeles Angels, pitcher Bump Hadley was superb. The San Francisco right-hander, who leads the AL in wins with 16, spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Hadley yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 16-5. Ken Howell earned his 4th save in 6 chances.
San Francisco used a clutch at-bat from Reggie Jackson to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Sea Lions ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Jackson.
The American League Cumberland Posey Division-leading Sea Lions are 72-39.
