Bell Slugs Pythians to 9-7 Win
The Philadelphia Pythians defeated the Penn Yan Mustangs, 9-7, at Mustang Field. Philadelphia first baseman George A Bell had a superb performance. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win for the Pythians lifted their record to 54-53.

Philadelphia pinch hitter Lance Niekro said he was just trying to make contact when he came to bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the sixth. He did more than that -- Niekro hit a 2-run home run to stake Philadelphia to a 8-7 lead. His 31st home run of the season came off Penn Yan pitcher Chuck Stobbs.

"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Bell.
