St. Paul pitcher Bobby Shantz did his part in helping his team beat the Staten Island Yankees, 7-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Reliever Dave Burba picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Ian Kennedy took the loss. St. Paul has an impressive 75-33 record.

Shane Victorino had a productive trip to the plate with two out in the top of the eighth inning. With the bases empty, he hit a solo home run, helping St. Paul to the win.

Victorino said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
