Late Rally by Black Spiders Seals 4th Straight Win
|
The Philadelphia Pythians got a superb performance from pitcher Rick Mahler, but the Mineola Black Spiders still won the game, 7-2. Mahler threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Mineola has now won 4 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Mineola, had it not been for Gary Roenicke, the 31-year old first baseman . Roenicke contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Mineola up, 3-2.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Roenicke said (again).
