Monarchs Down Spiders, 4-3
|
Kansas City beat Cleveland on the strength of starter Luke Hamlin's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Kansas City reliever Jeff Pfeffer picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Terry Adams was saddled with the loss. With the win, Kansas City goes to 55-57, while the Spiders fall to 62-49.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Kansas City center fielder Willie McGee, facing Bob Feller, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Monarchs the 4-3 win.
In postgame comments, Hamlin said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
