House of David Earn 5-4 Home Win
|
Despite a great performance by Indianapolis first baseman Oscar Charleston, the Wandering House of David defeated the ABCs by the score of 5-4 at Wrigley Field. Charleston was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Wandering, at 54-60, holds down 4th place in the National League Marvin Miller Division.
Frank Chance drove in one run for Wandering. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Guy White. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Indianapolis manager Daniel Makonnen.
