Monarchs Come Up Short at Indianapolis, 8-7
|
Despite a great performance by Kansas City right fielder Stan Musial, the Indianapolis ABCs defeated the Monarchs by the score of 8-7 at Crosley Park. Musial went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Clay Carroll got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances. Indianapolis is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Edd Roush drew 1 walk for Indianapolis. The 28-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Frank DiPino. It was his 35th RBI of the season.
"We maximized our offense today," said Indianapolis skipper Daniel Makonnen. "That makes everyone's life easier."
