Cleveland third baseman Evan Longoria was a significant contributor in his team's 12-4 triumph over the Baltimore Black Sox. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for the Spiders. The triumph puts Cleveland at 66-48 for the season.

Lance Berkman had a big 2-run home run for the Spiders in the top of the third inning. With Cleveland trailing 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Joe Beggs, who is tied for 5th in the AL in saves with 18, and punished it. The result was his 40th home run of the season, which put the Spiders on top, 4-3.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Longoria. "And not try to do too much."
