House of David Pick Up 3-0 Win Against Indianapolis
|
The home team gave the crowd at Wrigley Field something to cheer about.
In a low-scoring game between the Wandering House of David and the Indianapolis ABCs, pitcher Brett Anderson was masterful on the mound. The Wandering left-hander spearheaded his team's 3-0 win. The winner was Anderson. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Dolf Luque. Ed Bauta, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
Wandering third baseman Ernie Banks contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the House of David ahead, 1-0.
Banks called the win "a collective effort."
For Indianapolis, now 2-9, the season is off to a dismal start.
