Stars Need Extra Innings to Top House of David, 5-3
Fans who congregated at Wrigley Field were treated to extra-inning drama.

Steve Carlton had a strong outing for the Philadelphia Stars against the Wandering House of David at Wrigley Field. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. The win was credited to Ted Kennedy in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Ed Bauta took the loss.

Philadelphia won the game in part because of Sherry Magee. The right fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Stars ahead, 4-3. For the game, Magee had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"Steve is a gamer," said Philadelphia manager Daniel Makonnen.

Philadelphia is now 59-61, Wandering 58-63.
