The Cleveland Spiders grabbed a win, 13-7, over the San Francisco Sea Lions at League Park. Cleveland left fielder Tris Speaker was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Cleveland is now 71-51, 3 games up in the American League Bill James Division.

Evan Longoria had a big 3-run home run for the Spiders in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cleveland trailing 6-4 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a forkball from Lefty Grove, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in innings pitched with 183.1, and punished it. The result was his 26th home run of the season, which put the Spiders on top, 7-6.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Spiders manager Daniel Makonnen. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
