Wolverines Earn 4-3 Home Win
|
Ty Cobb left his imprint on the 4-3 Detroit win against the San Francisco Sea Lions. Cobb, who leads the AL with a 1.265 OPS, was 3-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Mike Henneman notched his 19th save in 22 chances. The win puts the Wolverines at 62-63, while the Sea Lions drop to 80-44.
Detroit right fielder Al Kaline contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 94th hit of the season and put the Wolverines ahead, 4-2.
"We squandered some opportunities," said San Francisco manager Daniel Makonnen.
