Black Yankees Earn Clutch Win, 4-3
Led by Mickey Mantle, the New York Black Yankees downed the Chicago American Giants, 4-3. Mantle was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Black Yankees. New York reliever Hoyt Wilhelm picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Tom Williams was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts New York at 70-55 for the season.

Mantle had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-2 curveball from Tom Williams, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Black Yankees a 4-3 lead. It was the 44th home run of the year for Mantle.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Black Yankees manager Daniel Makonnen.
