Grays Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Gibson
The Houston Colt 45s had to overcome a big game from Homestead catcher Josh Gibson to leave Forbes Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 9-5. Gibson was 4-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Houston reliever Roberto Osuna was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Robb Nen. With the win, the Colt 45s have a record of 62-62.

Gorman Thomas came through with a big-time hit for Houston. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 7-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Thomas said. "We did a good job of that today."
