The Indianapolis ABCs rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Eppa Rixey to a win, beating the Ottawa Mounties, 5-1, at Crosley Field. The Mounties, now 59-65, have lost 5 straight.

Joey Votto had a big 3-run home run for the ABCs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Indianapolis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from Roy Halladay, who is tied for 9th in the NL in innings pitched with 163.1, and punished it. The result was his 28th home run of the season, which put the ABCs on top, 4-0.

Votto attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
