Pitcher Tom Brewer was sensational for the San Francisco Sea Lions in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Detroit Wolverines. Brewer earned the win. Brewer got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. San Francisco is now 81-44, 20½ games up in the American League Cumberland Posey Division.

In the bottom of the eighth, Chili Davis stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Wolverines were trailing 4-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Huston Street made a terrific pitch and Davis struck out. Gone was the dream of a Detroit comeback.
