|
The New York Black Yankees used the hitting of right fielder Roger Maris to subdue the Chicago American Giants, 9-4. For the game, Maris was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Dave Righetti picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 7-4. New York now has a record of 71-57 with the win.
With New York leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Maris hit a fastball from Joe Horlen for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Black Yankees ahead, 6-2.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said New York manager Daniel Makonnen.
