Stars Drop House of David, 5-3, with Late Score
|
Philadelphia Stars starter J.M. Ward pitched a strong game against the Wandering House of David at Shibe Park AL, leading the Stars to victory, 5-3. Philadelphia reliever Mark Melancon picked up the win, while Kerry Wood took the loss for Wandering. The win elevated the Stars to 64-63.
Philadelphia took a 4-3 lead on Charles Rogan's 23rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Rogan hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Wandering pitcher Kerry Wood visibly frustrated.
In postgame comments to the Philadelphia Today, Rogan said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
