Sea Dogs Suffer 5-2 Road Loss
|
Miami registered a win at Baker Bowl by beating the Portland Sea Dogs, 5-2. Pitcher Hugh McQuillan was one reason why the Cuban Giants triumphed. The second-place Cuban Giants now sit at 62-66.
The Cuban Giants got a big at-bat from first baseman Jim Thome. For the game, Thome was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 47th home run of the season gave Miami a 3-1 lead.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Thome, "one at-bat at a time."
