Colt 45s Drop Monarchs, 2-1

Houston and Kansas City duked it out and the Colt 45s came out victorious.
The Kansas City Monarchs got a superb performance from pitcher José Rijo, but the Houston Colt 45s still won the game, 2-1. Rijo threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Houston pitcher Stephen Strasburg got the win, upping his record to 6-8. José Rijo got the loss. Sparky Lyle converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Jeff Bagwell, who is tied for 10th in the NL in RBI with 91, had a direct impact on the outcome. Bagwell contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Houston up, 2-0.
"Watch and learn," said Bagwell. "This is what good pitching looks like."
Houston raised its record to 65-63 with the win.
