Royal Giants Collect 7-6 Win Over Grays
The Homestead Grays got a superb performance from pitcher Bob Friend, but the Brooklyn Royal Giants still won the game, 7-6. Friend threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Brooklyn reliever Eric Gagne picked up the win, raising his record to 5-5. Michael Jackson was tagged with the loss. Brooklyn now owns a record of 64-65.

Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Beals Becker to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Royal Giants on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Becker. "I like it."
