Stars Get Thrilling 8-7 Win
The Kansas City Monarchs got a whale of a performance from third baseman Albert Pujols, but the Philadelphia Stars still prevailed, 8-7, in 11 innings. Pujols went 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. After today's action, Philadelphia sits at 65-66; Kansas City slips to 66-66.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 30-year old second baseman Chase Utley had a real shot to win the game. Kansas City pitcher Adam Wainwright was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Utley hit a run-scoring single. The Stars had a walk-off triumph.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Utley.
