American Giants Come Up Short at Cleveland, 6-5
|
The Cleveland Spiders picked up a win at League Park, downing the Chicago American Giants, 6-5. On the mound for Cleveland was right-hander Bob Feller, who played a pivotal role in the win. Feller picked up the win for Cleveland, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-3. Stew Cliburn earned the save for Cleveland, his 1st of the year.
Cleveland took a 5-3 lead on Tris Speaker's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Speaker hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Wilbur Wood visibly frustrated.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Speaker.
With the loss, Chicago is 7-7.
