Gothams Lose By a Run at Brooklyn
|
The Brooklyn Royal Giants racked up a win at Ebbets Field, bumping off the New York Gothams, 3-2. Smokey Joe Williams, who started for Brooklyn, pitched effectively for his team. Sandy Koufax earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 4-2. The Brooklyn win streak is now 3 games.
The Royal Giants got a big at-bat from right fielder Beals Becker. For the game, Becker went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 32nd home run of the season gave Brooklyn a 2-1 lead.
"Every loss hurts," said New York manager Daniel Makonnen. "But this was a tough one."
