Black Yankees Rally Late to Nip Red Sox
The New York Black Yankees faced a tough opponent in Memphis pitcher Red Ruffing, but found a way to pull out the victory at Yankee Stadium by a final score of 4-3 in 13 innings. Ruffing went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. New York goes to 8-6.

The decisive blow was delivered by Mike Schmidt in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Rollie Fingers to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Schmidt.
