Gore Helps Wandering Bombard Birmingham
The Wandering House of David defeated the Birmingham Black Barons, 20-4, in part because of center fielder George Gore. Gore went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 3 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for the House of David. The House of David saw their win-loss record go to 66-69. At the same time, the Black Barons fell to 64-71.

With Wandering leading 11-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Gore came up to bat against Birmingham pitcher Bill Phyle. Gore hit a splitter to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season put the House of David on top, 14-4.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Gore.
