The Brooklyn Royal Giants picked up a win at Minute Maid Park, topping the Houston Colt 45s, 8-3. On the mound for Brooklyn was right-hander Smokey Joe Williams. He played a principal role in the triumph. With the victory, the Royal Giants upped their record to 83-54.

Brooklyn used a clutch at-bat from Dan Brouthers to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Royal Giants ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We came out aggressive," said Royal Giants manager Daniel Makonnen. "We came out swinging the bats."
