Monarchs Pull Out Late Win, 7-6
The Kansas City Monarchs topped the Birmingham Black Barons, 7-6, in National League action at Muehlebach Field 1923-1941. The game was highlighted by the performance of Kansas City pitcher Frank Castillo. With the win, Kansas City upped its record to 72-69.

Robinson Canó was the walk-off hero for Kansas City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Monarchs second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Castillo said.
