Mounties Get Clutch Win Versus Wandering
|
Dave Malarcher did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Wandering House of David from being beaten, 4-3, to the Ottawa Mounties at Wrigley Field. Malarcher went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ottawa pitcher Randy Johnson got the win. He's now 4-5. Scott Downs was tagged with the loss. Tom Henke earned his 19th save in 28 chances.
Ottawa relied on the hitting of Tim Raines to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mounties on top, 4-3. For the game, Raines had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"It was a good effort all around," said Raines.
The Mounties now own a record of 66-77.
