Ottawa pitcher Roy Halladay had a large part in his team beating the Houston Colt 45s, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Halladay got the win, improving to 15-8. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. BJ Ryan, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
Ottawa used the hitting of Roberto Alomar to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mounties on top, 2-0. For the game, Alomar had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Roy had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Ottawa manager Daniel Makonnen.
The Mounties now own a record of 67-77.
