Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and New York Black Yankees.

New York got a terrific game from left fielder Babe Ruth. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Los Angeles, 11-6. Ruth was 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Los Angeles reliever Scott Rice got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Red Ruffing was tagged with the loss.

Los Angeles needed the clutch hitting of Steve Garvey to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Angels on top, 8-6. For the game, Garvey had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Garvey said.

With the win, Los Angeles goes to 67-78, while the Black Yankees fall to 81-65.
