Spiders Win at Home, 6-4
|
The Cleveland Spiders beat the Chicago American Giants, 6-4. Cleveland pitcher and The United States, native Bob Feller led the way. Cory Gearrin, credited with the save, is now 8 for 12 in save opportunities. The 4th-place American Giants have lost 4 consecutive games.
Had Arky Vaughan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vaughan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Spiders.
"Bob did a good job of managing their lineup," said Cleveland manager Daniel Makonnen.
