Sea Dogs Prevail, 4-3, Over Miami
|
Portland picked up a win at Griffith Stadium, bumping off the Miami Cuban Giants, 4-3. Pitcher Walter Ball was a major reason the Sea Dogs emerged victorious. The winner was Ball. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Cole Hamels. At 65-80, Portland is in 4th place in the American League Cumberland Posey Division.
Portland took a 4-2 lead on Walter Johnson's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Johnson hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Miami pitcher Cole Hamels visibly frustrated.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Ball. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
