At Ebbets Field, the Brooklyn Royal Giants and Kansas City Monarchs were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Willie McGee made an impact in the 6-2 Kansas City win over Brooklyn. McGee, who is tied for 9th in the NL in doubles with 39, went 2-2 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Eddie Guardado, credited with the save, is now 2 for 5 in save opportunities.
Kansas City took control in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ducky Medwick hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Monarchs.
McGee called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
Kansas City is now 73-74.
