Angels Lose to Black Yankees, 7-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Los Angeles Angels and New York Black Yankees get after it.
The New York Black Yankees picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the Los Angeles Angels, 7-2. Starting pitcher Ron Guidry played a key role in the triumph. Guidry got the win, improving to 8-12. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. Guidry allowed 2 runs.
The Black Yankees got a big hit from first baseman Don Mattingly. In the bottom of the fifth, Mattingly pounded a 2-run home run to right. His 28th home run of the season put the Black Yankees ahead, 6-2.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Guidry told the New York Citizen.
The win puts New York at 78-71 this season.
