Kansas City Monarchs starter A. Rube Foster pitched his team past the Wandering House of David, 3-1. In 7.2 innings, Foster surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 5. He allowed 1 run. Craig Kimbrel got the save, his 14th in 17 chances.
Cool Papa Bell, who is the top prospect in the Monarchs organization, had a direct impact on the outcome. Bell contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put Kansas City up, 1-0.
Afterward, Monarchs manager Daniel Makonnen said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
With the victory, the Monarchs upped their record to 74-74.
