San Francisco Beats Miami, 4-2
|
The San Francisco Sea Lions racked up a win at Baker Bowl, bumping off the Miami Cuban Giants, 4-2. Eddie Plank, who started for San Francisco, pitched effectively for his team. Rod Beck was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 38 of 45 save opportunities. The first-place Sea Lions, at 95-53, now lead their division by 22½ games.
The Sea Lions got a big at-bat from right fielder Jack Clark. For the game, Clark went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 47th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.
San Francisco manager Daniel Makonnen was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
