Chicago Earn 5-4 Victory at Angel Stadium of Anaheim 1998

The Los Angeles Angels could not turn a fine performance from center fielder Mike Trout into a win. Instead, the Chicago American Giants prevailed, 5-4. Trout went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Picking up the win was Cristóbal Torriente. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. The left--hander struck out 0 and walked 3. A. J. Minter got the save, his 16th in 22 chances.
Chicago center fielder Mike Cameron contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 4th hit of the season and put the American Giants ahead, 4-2.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Cameron said.
At 66-82, the American Giants find themselves in last place in the American League Cumberland Posey Division.
