Mounties Earn 6-5 Win Versus Gothams
|
The Ottawa Mounties topped the New York Gothams, 6-5, in National League action at Hilltop Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Ottawa pitcher Roy Halladay. Tom Henke earned his 20th save in 29 chances. The Mounties move to 68-80 with the win, while the Gothams drop to 71-78.
Álex Rodríguez was 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI for Ottawa. The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike Norris. It was his 83rd RBI of the season.
"We ground out the win," said Rodríguez. "That's all that matters."
