Ron Cey had a good game, but he could not keep the Brooklyn Royal Giants from falling, 13-4, to the Homestead Grays at Ebbets Field. The Brooklyn third baseman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice in the loss. With this game in the books, Homestead is 70-78, Brooklyn 91-57.

Roberto Clemente had a big 2-run double for the Grays in the top of the first inning. With Homestead leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a curveball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Sandy Koufax and swatted a double to right. It was his 28th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grays ahead, 3-0.

Clemente told a Homestead Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
