Colt 45s Nip Black Barons, 7-6
|
Birmingham got a big-time effort from pitcher Greg Maddux, but it wasn't enough to keep the Houston Colt 45s from winning the game, 7-6. Maddux threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The win elevated the Colt 45s to 77-71.
Houston needed the clutch hitting of Paul Goldschmidt to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Colt 45s on top, 7-6. For the game, Goldschmidt had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Goldschmidt.
