The Baltimore Black Sox withstood an impressive performance by Portland left fielder Bobby Abreu to defeat the Sea Dogs, 4-3, at Griffith Stadium. Abreu was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Mike Mussina was the winner. He's now 9-10. The loser was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Bert Blyleven. The Black Sox improved their record to 69-80 by beating Portland.
