Berkman Slugs Spiders to 13-6 Win
The Cleveland Spiders defeated the Chicago American Giants, 13-6, in part because of first baseman Lance Berkman. Berkman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Spiders. With the victory, the Spiders upped their record to 85-65.

Cleveland won the game in part because of Ron Blomberg. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Spiders ahead, 2-0. For the game, Blomberg had 1 double and 2 home runs in 5 at-bats.

"Nice win for us," said Blomberg. "Now we'll go after the next one."
