Spiders Edge Black Yankees, 8-7
League Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Cleveland Spiders and New York Black Yankees.

Despite a fine performance by left fielder Albert Belle, the New York Black Yankees lost to the Cleveland Spiders, 8-7. Belle was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Terry Adams earned his 37th save in 44 tries.

In the bottom of the sixth, Cleveland pinch hitter Tris Speaker put his team on top. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit his 4th home run of the year. New York pitcher Ralph Citarella served it up. Just like that, the Spiders were ahead, 7-6.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Speaker told the Cleveland Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."

Cleveland now has a 3-game win streak.
