Black Yankees Lose to Spiders, 5-3
|
Cleveland picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, bumping off the New York Black Yankees, 5-3. Pitcher Bob Feller was a major reason the Spiders emerged victorious. Feller, the winner, moves to 13-3. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 4 walks. The triumph puts Cleveland at 87-66 for the season.
Cleveland used a clutch at-bat from Ed Bailey to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Spiders ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Bob did a good job keeping the game under control," said Cleveland manager Daniel Makonnen.
